One ounce of this fiber fills a 6x9 bag and is enough to generously embellish over 30 art batts based on the amount of nepps (a very large pinch) I find aesthetically pleasing. Use more or less according to your preferences. This fiber is UV sensitive. It will change color when exposed to prolonged sunlight. Spinning the tweed yarn is easy and fun. The wool in the outer layer of fleece was ordinarily longer, thicker and coarser than the wool from the inner layers. These fibers would be spun into worsted yarn. My default spin is in between the extremes. I like a shorter backward draft on combed top. Mostly because I do love spinning hand dyed braids, but you probably know that. The swatch on the bottom to the left is 100% my default draft/prep combo. I have been spinning that way as a default for years, but I do adjust my spin for particular projects. On the righthand side of the card the colours are blended (or not) in three-ply yarns. From right to left: pure orange; two plies orange and one green; one ply orange and two green; pure green. As far as the nepps go, when they do stay in, they look really neat, especially, the nepps being in a different color then I was currently spinning. Nepps are going to take me some practice getting use to, but fun nonetheless. I wonder if my homemade nepps will be different since they aren't yet the hard wool balls, but rather, the tiny soft. A smooth draw was therefore difficult so a supported longdraw was used, where nepps could be removed during spinning. The result was a fairly airy but rather lumpy two-plied yarn. The range of colours and processing and spinning methods demonstrated the variety of fleeces from the seven breeds, making for a most interesting project.
